18/07/2006The first bingo player to strike it lucky at the Gala venue was Liz Giles, from County Durham, who won £101,385, the National Bingo Game website reports.
She said: "When I first shouted house, one of my sisters said 'Are you sure? It's a full house not a line.' I said 'It's right, it's right!'"
Liz said that the whole Gala bingo club was "in uproar" as she danced with delight, so imagine what the place would have been like when, a few days later, a mother-of-two won an even more incredible £201,592.
Having never won more than £1,000 playing bingo, the winner was rather taken aback when she reached her 41-call full house.
"It was all a bit surreal, like an out of body experience," she said.
"I haven't the foggiest what we will do with it yet. It's nice dreaming about it though."
