GRAN\'S PERSISTENCE PAYS OFF
17/01/2007It was a fair reward for the 81-year-old mother of four and grandmother of seven who has played bingo six times a week for 21 years at the Gala Bingo club.
She scored the prize after completing a full house in 36 numbers, beating more than 500 clubs who were playing the National Bingo Game.
The woman, who did not want to be named, told the Express and Star: "I was stunned when it finally sunk in how much I had won and my family were absolutely flabbergasted."
She added: "My grandchildren are already wondering how much they're going to get."
The club, which is located on Bushbury Lane, is proving to be a valuable venue for bingo players. Four years ago, one woman won an incredible £201,000 there.
