ACTRESS HITS OUT OVER MECCA CLOSURE
05/03/2007The actress, who is currently featuring in the BBC1 series of Comic Relief Does Fame Academy, has branded the closure of a Mecca bingo online club on Essex Road in Islington as the "end of an era".
Linda, who used to frequent the hall with her mum, Rita, is upset over the loss of the hall scheduled for March 25th, one of nine Mecca bingo online halls that will close.
"She's coming up to 70 now and there's not many places they can go and meet up and have a chat," Linda told the Islington Gazette.
"What else is there for a woman of her age to do? That's her way of life gone out of the window. Her life is bingo."
Players were reportedly given just five weeks' notice that their beloved hall was closing down, although they may seek solace in the fact that they can always head to the internet for a game.
