CRAMLINGTON GALA CLUB CRAMS IN BINGO WINS
05/07/2007Two players at Cramlington's Gala Bingo club scooped the national jackpot in the space of two days recently.
First to get lucky was a 69-year-old pensioner who won £20,000 on the Afternoon Delight national game.
She revealed she was to split the money equally with her sister, a long-term companion when visiting the Gala Bingo club.
And lightning struck twice as a further £50,000 in prize money was claimed the very next day.
The surprise was even greater as the winner initially thought she had taken the club prize of £100.
"I just couldn't believe it when they told me I had also got the £50,000," she told game operator National Bingo.
"We were all in shock and I didn't sleep very well that night."
General manager of the Gala Bingo club Steve Grabham explained that admissions to the hall were double their usual level due to a play-for-free offer.
