BANNED FROM BINGO
11/02/2005A bingo player has been barred from his local bingo hall for 4 weeks for shouting too loud.
John Wells, 57, was barred for four weeks from the Mecca bingo hall in Stevenage town centre because his calls frightened some of the elderly patrons.
Management at the hall, on Danestrete, sent Mr Wells a letter claiming they had received complaints from other gamers who were scared of his bellowing call of 'wakey wakey'.
He was banned last week until February 23 for his shouting.
Mr Wells, who spends around £5,000 a year playing bingo and has won jackpots of up to £6,000 once missed winning because he didn't shout loud enough. The rules state that you have to make yourself heard in order to stop the game... It's one of the biggest problems in any bingo club but not something we need to worry about online!
