Scott Thornton, assistant manager at Gala bingo in Tamworth, revealed that the increasing professionalism involved in bingo has helped to draw in a diverse crowd to bingo events.

He said: "It varies from club to club but the image has definitely changed. During the day we get the regular clientele and at night we seem to have gained a new breed of younger women looking for a different night out."

And if you are sitting at home thinking it's not a game for men, then you would be wrong.

"The biggest change I think has been men, it's really catching on," Mr Thornton added.
