BINGO JACKPOT WORTH THE WAIT
06/01/2006

A couple who won a £10,000 bingo jackpot had to wait nearly two weeks to find out if a technical hitch was going to deprive them of their prize money.

Mike and Denise Fleming from Stourport, near Kidderminster, were playing at Shipleys Bingo Club when they got a full house for the £10,000 booty.

But, as the Kidderminster Shuttle reports, numbers continued to be called out at other games across the country and within moments the bingo prize was awarded to another player.

Luckily for the Flemings, the bingo club admitted that they were the rightful winners of the money and the original decision was overturned.

Mr Fleming said: "We went through mixed emotions - anger and disappointment - to relief when the matter was resolved.

"The directors have been very understanding and I'm delighted with the result. I feel justice has been served."

The couple have been playing bingo for six years and will spend some of the money on a holiday to Australia with their bingo syndicate friends, Judy and Alan Hines.

Mrs Hines added: "At first, we felt robbed as we're unlikely to ever win that sort of money again but we're delighted the matter has been sorted out and are looking forward to the holiday."
