A 78-year-old granny from Edinburgh has struck it lucky playing bingo - and been rewarded for enjoying her favourite game for 52 years.

All those years were made worthwhile when the woman, who wished to remain anonymous, took home a massive £52,000 jackpot, the Scotsman reports.

That means for every year she has been playing bingo she has earned herself a handy £1,000, not a bad return for her twice weekly visits to the bingo hall.

She intends to share the money with her husband, but she might find that any one of her four children, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren will want to see a share of the money as well.

Her magic moment came at Meadowbank's Gala Club as she notched up a 36-number full house, meaning she won the club, regional and national prizes.
