PATIENCE PAYS OFF FOR 92-YEAR-OLD WINNER
01/02/2006

A great-grandmother from Dewsbury, near Huddersfield, has proved that age is no barrier to bingo success after walking away with £101,075 to her name.

The 92-year-old did not wish to be named after hitting the bingo jackpot at her local Mecca Club last week, the Huddersfield Daily Examiner reports.

She has already said she will be sharing the money with a friend, but there will be many other people hoping to see a share of her bingo haul, not least any of her ten great-grandchildren.

The pensioner was playing four cards all at once when, after 43 numbers, she reached a full house to claim the top prize on the National Bingo Game.

Having played bingo throughout her married life, as often as three times a week, she was understandably amazed to have finally won such a huge sum of money.

"It was a bit of a shock when they told me how much it was. I have not got over it yet!" she said.

Her son-in-law, with whom she lives along with her daughter, revealed the widow still likes to go on holiday three times a year - now she will be able to treat herself to the best holiday money can buy.
