A man who won £1,000 playing a bingo game in his local paper has kept a promise to split his winnings with his next-door neighbour.
The Leicester Mercury runs a Bingo Dream game every Wednesday and 47-year-old bricklayer Ken Baker was one of four people to grab a grand, deciding to split the money with his neighbour of ten years, Janet Lewis.
Rather than buy a new car or go on holiday, Ken won't be going crazy with his money, deciding that it's time for a spot of home renovation instead.
"I'm going to use the money for a new carpet and a few treats," he said.
"As Janet and I were both playing the bingo in the Mercury, we decided to team up. I know she would have paid me if she'd been the winner."
Meanwhile, 59-year-old Janet was grateful to have such a noble neighbour: "It's really nice of Ken to have shared the prize, but I'm not surprised because he's a really good neighbour."
