The federation of European bingo associations, will be known as EUBINGO, was launched on January 31st.
At present, its members include the British Bingo Association and its Spanish counterpart, the Confederacion Espanola de Organizaciones de Empresarios del Juego del Bingo.
Its co-presidents, Sir Peter Fry and Jose Luis Iniesta, hope that they will be able to attract more EU members.
Among things for EUBINGO to discuss will be the European Commissions forthcoming study on gambling, corporate social responsibility and the EU anti-smoking campaign.
Bill Newton Dunn MEP, who announced the creation of EUBINGO, said that it was now necessary to have bingo represented as part of the larger EU gambling sector.
The UK bingo industry employed no fewer than 19,200 people in 678 bingo clubs in 2004, making a profit of £261.7 million.
