GET DOWN TO DOWN'S NEWEST BINGO HALL

A new bingo hall has opened in Newcastle, County Down, and is proving to be the talk of the town.

The Funworld Bingo Hall can accommodate 200 bingo players and there wasn't a spare seat in sight on the opening night as players were treated to a wine reception, the Down Democrat reports.

The bingo hall is located in the central promenade of Newcastle and is a modern and impressive hall, which, according to its manager Michael Harty, means it can compete with clubs in neighbouring Newry and Kilkeel.

He said: "The game of bingo has moved into the future and is no longer being played in old poorly lit church halls.

"It has become a game that has surpassed the generation boundary and is now enjoyed by everyone in the community."

Six games of bingo will be called each day, Monday through to Saturday, with plenty of jackpots to be won.
