A mother from Ribbleton in Lancashire had a Mother's Day she will never forget after winning £20,585 playing bingo.

The 74-year-old, who has three sons and two daughters, decided to treat herself to a game of bingo at the Gala Club on Market Street, Preston, with her youngest daughter on Mothering Sunday.

She will be thanking her lucky stars that she spent Mother's Day in such a way after landing the big cash prize on the Afternoon Delight Game, the National Bingo Game website reports.

Despite playing bingo twice a week for many years, her previous biggest win was £4,000.

But her latest jackpot was just rewards for a mother who dedicated her life to looking after her five children, not to mention the five grandchildren she now has to think about.

She said: "I worked all my life as well as bringing up my children. No-one was more shocked than me when they announced I had won."
