04/04/2006The 40-year-old was playing bingo for just the third time in her life when she hit the jackpot and now plans to split the money with a friend she was playing with, the Blackpool Citizen reports.
The friend said: "We are still trying to take it in. It was a fantastic experience and life-changing for both of us. We are both planning to pay off our mortgages and buy new cars. I will look after my mum and brothers and sisters, have a holiday and invest the rest."
It was also third time lucky for the Mecca Bingo hall on Talbot Road where the win took place – it is the third time in three years that the hall has seen more than £500,000 won in the last three years.
"The odds of being that successful on the game with so many clubs participating must be absolutely astronomical. We must be the luckiest club in the country," commented Mike Travis, Mecca general manager.
