19/04/2006Alan Smith, a 68-year-old from Norfolk, was playing at a Mecca bingo hall in Norwich when after just 39 calls he reached a full house, the Norwich Evening News reports.
Now that he has a further £53,000 to his name, he plans to spoil his grandchildren, make some investments and treat himself to a holiday.
But that doesn't mean he won't be seen down at Mecca bingo again.
"I knew of someone who had won £100,000 and then stopped going just like that," Alan said. "But not me. In my opinion bingo is a great night out for old people."
He continued: "It is where you can meet friends, have a natter and a bit of fun and the chance to win money."
Having only just retired in March, he should find plenty more time to fit in his favourite game.
