09/05/2006The couple from Allenton in Derbyshire went to Gala Bingo in Liversage Street, Derby, rather than make their weekly trip to the Gala Bingo in Forester's Leisure Park, according to Derbyshire's Evening Telegraph.
The couple, who did not wish to be named, have already splashed out on a new car and a holiday to Cyprus, not a bad start for their jackpot joy which came from little more than a hunch.
The husband, 58, explained: "On that night, my wife said she wanted to go to the one in town because she felt lucky.
"I went to the toilet and when I came back my wife had her hand in the air. I thought we had won a smaller prize. When I found out we had won the national I was just in shock."
