PLUCKY PENSIONER LANDS PILE OF CASH
18/05/2006The 74-year-old lady, a resident of Kirkintilloch, landed the prize in Glasgow during a night on the town with her husband, the Glasgow Evening Times reports.
The two are regulars at the Gala bingo club and now the elderly winner – who has been deaf since the age of 21 – is planning a luxury cruise on the back of her brilliant bingo bonus.
Both the lady and her husband were somewhat shocked by the win, having previously managed a biggest win of £500 before their luck was in at the Possilpark club.
"I had a few beverages so I managed to sleep. We were due a win but I never dreamt it would be to that extent," the lucky lady's 75-year-old husband said, according to the newspaper.
The winner herself, however, wasn't so fortunate when it came to getting her rest: "This hasn't sunk in yet. I'm still in shock and I never slept at all," she said.
