BUCKINGHAM BINGO FIT TO FLOURISH
23/05/2006

The Manchester Evening News reports that the chain, based on Manchester's Bloom Street, will be backed by £50 million from owner Alchemy, as it seeks to buy further bingo hall sites in Northamptonshire and Preston.

Speaking to the newspaper, Buckingham Bingo chief executive Andy Cunningham explained that the increasing numbers of young people playing bingo was one reason behind his organisation's desire to double its bingo hall portfolio.

He said: "In the last decade, the age profile of our players has reduced by ten years. We still have a much-valued and loved senior clientele during the daytime but are seeing increasing numbers of younger people in the evenings.

"It's a family thing - there are not many other places where a grandmother, her daughter and grand-daughter can go together to spend the evening - and it's an inexpensive and enjoyable night out for people aged from 18 to 88."
