03/07/2006The 65-year-old mother of four took herself down to the Mecca Club on Talbot Road while her husband watched the football on TV – and returned to their hotel £47,189 richer.
It was the perfect prize for the woman who was celebrating her 65th birthday that weekend, according to the National Bingo Game website.
The bingo hall's operations manager, Derek Smith, said: "She went into total shock when she realized how much she had won. She was gone, completely out of it."
She wasn't the only one who had the shock of her life though, as her husband was in for a real surprise when she returned to their room.
"When we got back to the hotel, I threw the packet with the house prize at him and then added that I had won the National as well," she explained.
"He didn't believe me and I had to show him a copy of the claims form!"
