With revenues at Mecca Bingo falling by 14 per cent, Rank is said to be contemplating selling off the Hard Rock cafe business from its portfolio.
Since the introduction of the smoking ban, there has been a six per cent decrease in the number of people going through the doors at Scottish bingo halls.
Once inside, the average spend per bingo player has fallen by nine per cent as people spend time on cigarette breaks outside.
Despite trying to attract players with improved technology and more prizes between bingo games, the 14 bingo halls north of the border have continued to struggle.
The Rank statement said: "Profits in our gaming division remain under pressure from rising costs and the smoking ban in Scotland is having a negative impact on revenues in our bingo business."
Benefiting in its place, to the appeal of both smokers and non-smokers, is online bingo, where Scottish sites such as Bingo Scotland have excelled as a result of the ban.
