Bingo halls all across the country have witnessed the impact of the ban, with fewer people playing the game and people who are playing spending less money when they are there, Scotland's Sunday Herald reports.
Independent bingo clubs are being hit hardest, with the announcement last week that three in Edinburgh would have to close their doors for the final time.
But even the bigger operators, such as Mecca and Gala, are not immune to significant loss of revenue in the past few months.
Sir Peter Fry, chairman of the Bingo Association, told the paper: "Unfortunately if we don't do something soon, many of the clubs won't be here when things settle down. Independents haven't got the resources to see themselves through.
"We need to see what we can sort out now with the Scottish experience rather than later on when there is wholesale chaos in the bingo industry throughout the UK."
