RADIO WRANGLE OVER BINGO GAME
25/07/2006

The game, Good Music Bingo, had a first prize of £10,000 and required players to have a fully completed bingo card, website radiotoday.co.uk reports.

Despite making it onto air, the radio station discovered that the 'winning' listener hadn't met all the requirements of the bingo game and decided to withhold the winnings.

Rather than announce on air that the bingo money had not been won, the radio station simply diverted the kitty to another competition at a later date.

But after receiving a complaint regarding its conduct from the unfortunate listener, industry watchdog Ofcom ruled that the radio station had breached broadcasting rules for failing to make the terms of the competition appropriately known.

So in the end there were no real winners in the radio bingo game – bingo fans would be much better off sticking to online bingo instead!
