BINGO PLAYERS STAND UP TO LEEDS LOUTS
08/08/2006

But when their local constabulary arrived to investigate, it was the bingo players who were threatened with arrest, the Yorkshire Post reports.

The women had been playing the numbers game at the United Reformed Church in Leeds but were disturbed by the boys who were kicking a ball against the shutters and then inside the church itself.

The plucky pensioners then confiscated the ball and called the police to deal with the situation.

But to their disbelief they were told they would be arrested for stealing if they did not give the ball back.

This was despite the fact that the gang has spent the last few months causing havoc with the pensioners' Monday night get-togethers, something they have enjoyed for the last 20 years.
