BINGO FANS WANT NEW HALL
13/09/2006

The Needham Bingo and Social Club is due to close this week, but fans of the game in the area are calling on Wycombe District Council to replace the club with a new bingo hall.

"It's not only an old person's thing. It's for young and old and 18-year-olds go along," said 47-year-old Michael Carroll, according to This is Local London.

Mr Carroll has been playing the game since the age of 20 and the club has a special place in his bingo history.

And Councillor David Carroll has given his backing to the residents' call for a new building where they can play their beloved bingo.

"We are not dismissing the idea and we are trying to get as many leisure facilities into Wycombe as we can. It's a shame that Needham's is closing down," the councillor said.

If the residents do not get their new hall, at least they can play online bingo to keep their hobby going.
