FULL HOUSE OF GENEROSITY
28/09/2006Sonia Blake struck it lucky while playing bingo when she was told she had won a £500 luxury break in London, reports website Barnsley Today.
But instead of taking the prize, the mother of seven asked if it could be donated to the church in which her husband works.
"The church needed a screen to help during services but also for youth work we are planning in the near future," said Sonia.
"When Foxy Bingo [the operator] rang to tell me they had organised my break including champagne on the London Eye, a show and a lovely hotel I asked if I could be cheeky and have the money for the church instead."
The church was £1,000 short of the amount needed for the new screen so Sonia's good deed would have taken them within touching distance of their financial goal.
But one good deed deserves another and Foxy Bingo decided it would provide the other £500 so that the church would reach its target.
"I was absolutely thrilled when I heard they were going to give us the full amount," added Sonia. "Now we will be able to buy the screen and it should be installed by October."
