David Roddick, the digital director of Sun Bingo's parent company, News Group Digital, told the paper how happy he was with the award.
"I want to thank the millions of players who make Sun Bingo the most exciting place to play bingo," he explained.
"There's a real sense of community amongst our players, with £12 million won since January. It has made us the biggest online bingo game in the UK."
The awards ceremony was conducted by popular comedian Jimmy Carr who referred to the fact that Prince William had been playing bingo recently by saying that Sun Bingo was the Prince's "favourite website", the newspaper reports.
To help celebrate its success, the site is currently offering players free bingo games worth £5.
