BLOSSOMING BAND REVEALS BINGO PAST
16/10/2006The same could also be said of anyone looking to make it big in the music industry – so it is no surprise that one band has been combining the two, completing the transition from being bingo callers to top of the pops in impressive fashion, the South Wales Echo reports.
The Fratellis, one of the hottest acts in the music world at the moment, have revealed that their day job used to be as bingo callers at a nursing home in Glasgow, before they found fame and fortune as musicians.
Guitarist Barry told the paper: "We never played a gig for the residents. But we did like calling the bingo numbers for them."
While they might have enjoyed their bingo-calling days, the decision to make music their career of choice has paid dividends, with their debut album, Costello Music, hitting the heights of the charts at number two.
