RANK CONCENTRATES ON BINGO
11/12/2006Seminole, which already owns the Hard Rock hotels and casinos in Hollywood and Tampa, will pay $965m (£490m) to acquire the Rank offering.
Having already sold off the likes of Butlin's, Odeon Cinemas and Pinewood Studios in recent years, Rank will now concentrate solely on its Mecca bingo and online gaming operations.
Ian Burke, chief executive of Rank, commented: "Today's announcement sets a clear strategic course for Rank as a focused gaming business.
"In spite of a number of near-term challenges, we believe that our considerable operating experience and our strong portfolio of gaming assets will enable us to take advantage of the long-term growth in the gaming market."
