STAR TURN AT STARDUST
13/12/2006Wendi Peters, who plays Cilla Battersby in soap favourite Coronation Street, was on ribbon-cutting duties at the Stardust bingo hall on George Street as more than 200 bingo fans turned up for the occasion, Kettering's Evening Telegraph reports.
Wendi told the paper: "I don't play bingo, although Cilla is a big fan. The girls in the cast always say we should go along so maybe we will in the near future."
Stardust, which has held bingo sessions for 20 years, has enjoyed a £1.5 million makeover and will make a much more impressive bingo venue for the 4,500 that come to play the numbers game each week.
Stardust manager, Tom Haworth, commented: "This has turned the club into one of the most modern in the country. Apart from myself and a few staff, there is nothing left of the old hall."
