NI COULD GET SUNDAY BINGO
20/12/2006Northern Ireland is the only part of the UK where the law dictates that gambling venues cannot open on a Sunday, but this could be about to change.
If the proposed new rules do come about, it will mean that bingo halls can welcome players in between 14:00 and 23:00 GMT.
David Hanson MP, minister for social development, told the BBC that the ideas were "only proposals at this stage".
He also invited people to make their thoughts known to form "a wide spectrum of opinion to ensure any decisions taken are well-informed on all of the issues highlighted in the consultation period".
If the changes are warmly welcomed they could be adopted in 2008 – in the meantime, you can play online bingo at any time of the day and seven days a week.
