Unsurprisingly, there is much concern regarding the forthcoming smoking ban to be introduced in bingo halls in England next year – but some clubs are considering ingenious ways to combat the problem, Bloomberg reports.
Rank, the owner of bingo chain Mecca, has turned to portable handheld devices so that bingo players who like to smoke can take their game of bingo with them when they pander for a puff.
Speaking to Bloomberg, Rank chief executive Ian Burke added that his organisation is even considering building smoking shelters for people outside.
One beneficiary of the smoking ban is the online bingo industry, as more and more people profit from the ease and convenience of enjoying the numbers game from the comfort of their own home.
