BINGO MAN HONOURED
03/01/2007

Jim Gatley's bingo nights, which drew competitors from miles around, were at the heart of his reputation, website This is Cornwall reports.

He was a pillar of the Fraddon community, serving as a magistrate and on the local council and using the bingo nights to raise money for the local village hall.

His widow, Shirley Gatley, told the website: "The whole day was really remarkable.

"It was so nice to see all of Jim's friends and work colleagues again."

The plaque is accompanied by a clock, installed by the Plymouth Watch and Clock Company, to honour Jim's life.

So even though Jim went be on hand to bring everyone's favourite numbers game to them on a weekly basis, there will always be a daily reminder to friends and family of his contribution to the community.
