SCHOOL WORKER COOKS UP PRIZE POT
09/01/2007Bernadette Shepard, a 48-year-old bingo player from Widnes, struck gold when she won £51,000 at the Buckingham Club in Liverpool. The lucky lady split her winnings with her sister-in-law.
"It's completely unbelievable. I never thought I would ever win such a large sum of money. I thought I'd probably just win the house prize," Bernadette told Runcorn Weekly News.
But the Widnes winner got a lot more than just the house prize. Added to this win of £100 was the regional prize of £1,524 and the National Bingo Game bonanza of £50,000.
The cook's prize pot was somewhat bigger than her previous best in the 18 years she has been attending the club, which stood at £3,000 following a nice win five years ago.
