ENGINEER GETS RICH WELCOME
09/01/2007

Colin Hargrave, 48, had returned from working on a project in his role as an engineer in the United States where he had been told by his wife, Val, that she had struck it lucky at a local bingo club.

"I just didn't believe what I was hearing. Val couldn't speak anyway, so I only took it in when my dad confirmed the news," Colin told the Times and Star.

Val, 44, scooped the prize from the Opera Bingo club in December, where she collected the £200,000 national prize in addition to a regional £1,000 pot and a £223 house prize.

Colin is now convinced that his being away on business is a lucky charm and is hoping for lightning to strike twice when he is gone next time.

"I'm going away again on Thursday, so we'll just see if our good luck strikes again," Colin told the newspaper.
