A letter from the company that runs the hall to employees informing them of the January 26th closure spoke of an offer that it "couldn't refuse".
"It's very disappointing. I have been coming here for 20 years and now I'm going to have to go elsewhere," said Dianne Mellor, of Pear Tree Crescent, Derby, according to the Evening Telegraph.
The closure will leave 14 people without jobs, the newspaper reports, with some of them receiving less than three weeks notice of the closure.
With many residents, such as Ms Mellor now looking for a game of bingo elsewhere, the internet could provide the answer with online bingo.
According to Mintel research cited by Gala Bingo on its website, bingo is the most popular leisure activity for women between the ages of 20 and 25.
