ROXY BINGO ON THE ROCKS?
01/02/2007The Roxy Bingo and Social Club, located on Brogden Street, has been home to bingo sessions for more than 30 years, but the North-West Evening Mail reveals this could be about to end.
The bingo club shares the site with a cinema, which last September just managed to stave off closure after being taken over by a film fan investor.
The North-West Evening Mail contacted the building's owner, Andrew Sail of Brooks Wilkinson, who declined to comment on what would happen to the bingo club.
One bingo regular told the newspaper: "I'm very saddened to hear that the future of the bingo club could be in doubt. Over the years it's been great to go along and play bingo and have a good crack over a drink.
"There used to be regular entertainment on a Friday or Saturday night after bingo and there used to be trips to other bingo clubs. I really hope it can continue, because there's nowhere else like the Roxy in Ulverston."
