13/02/2007Couples Patricia and Roger Tunnicliffe and Betty Needham and her husband each won £1,000 in the Leicester Mercury's dream ticket competition.
Patricia Tunnicliffe is heading off to her usual destination of a bungalow in Norfolk for a week.
Mrs Tunnicliffe told the newspaper: "My husband marked all the cards off and it was a really good feeling to finally win.
"We've never won anything more than a tenner on the lottery so this was really big for us. It was a lovely surprise."
Meanwhile Betty Needham and her husband, also Wigston residents, will be spending the money on a trip to the sun in Spain.
Mercury's weekly bingo game involves scratching off numbers as they appear in each daily edition of the paper, providing the excitement - and prizes - of traditional bingo.
A total prize fund of £75,000 is up for grabs, over eight weekly games.
