The centenary celebrations will profit from the cash contributions flooding in from locals who have been having fun and giving something back to their community at the same time by attending the bingo nights held in the hall over recent months.
Over £1,000 has been added to the kitty for the party celebrations in 2008 so far – a sum sure to buy enough cakes and tipples for all the revellers.
The approach of the 100th anniversary is also spurring a modernisation drive to get the hall spruced up for its special day.
Hall committee chairman Mick Gordon, is planning to replace the front door and improve other facilities, bringing the hall up to date as a hub of social activity for today's users.
"The money raised from the bingo evenings will make a significant contribution towards the project," he told the Press and Journal, adding that the success of the well-attended bingo events had inspired a host of other entertainments now in the pipeline, including Scottish country dancing nights and an introduction to ballroom for beginners.
