The group hoped to raise £1,000 by completing the ten-mile route round Montrose basin.
Among them was Gala Bingo employee Scott Mather, who traversed the course wearing a tiara, according to the Montrose Review.
With a week to go before the walk on Sunday, May 6th, the hopeful hikers had collected about £300 in sponsorship, £700 short of their target.
However, they had high hopes as this is their fourth year of taking part in the event, held annually by the local Golf Inn to aid local charities.
Last year, the total money raised by those taking part in the walk was close to £5,000, the publication reported.
The Gala Bingo employees may have been glad to reach the five-mile point on the route, as refreshments were served to boost the spirits of those participants who were beginning to flag.
