Veronica Gosling has been presented with £250 in the Down Your Street competition, reports the Shields Gazette.
The 67-year-old grandmother of five explained that the win represents a change in fortune after years of bad luck.
"I'm so excited. I've never won anything in my life - not even £10 on the lottery," she told the publication.
"I'm just not that lucky at anything like that - I guess that's all changed."
She added that she intends to put the money towards a mini-break with her husband Lawrence, whom she has been married to for 47 years.
Fellow winner Tony Thornton of South Shields was unable to claim his prize as he was on holiday with his wife Jenny.
However, his stepdaughter Beverley Malcolm was on hand to make sure Mr Thornton did not miss out.
UK Bingo has proved successful for South Shields residents recently, as local Ruth Robinson won £20,000 at the town's Majestic hall in February.
