Neil Goulden, boss of Gala Bingo 's parent company Gala Bingo Coral Group, is now to offer his assistance to the Low Pay Commission, the firm stated.
The chief executive was among four new members announced by trade and industry secretary Alistair Darling.
He is now to serve on the commission, which provides the government with recommendations relating to the national minimum wage.
Mr Darling stressed the importance of the job: "Those serving on the commission play an important role in the modern British economy, getting the right rate of pay for millions of workers who need it most and for business."
Thanking the previous members for their time on the panel, he added that he welcomed the new commissioners into the three-year appointments.
Mr Goulden joined Gala Bingo Group in 2000 and was chief executive at the time of its acquisition of Coral Eurobet in 2005, which made the group Europe's largest integrated gaming company.
