Putting aside the disappointment from three months ago, Erin now tells game operator National Bingo: "This win is great!

"I couldn't believe it at first though and my mum was gobsmacked!"

The money is expected to pay towards a distraction for the student nurse, who is currently awaiting medical treatment of her own on an injured knee.

February was a busy month for the Wishaw Mecca Bingo Online club, with Erin's near-miss not the only national jackpot action to take place.

Helen Whiteford, a 68-year-old Wishaw grandmother, successfully claimed a £100,000 prize in the same month.
