"It was the first time in 18 months that I had played the evening National Game," she told National Bingo, the game's operating body.
And she added that her son, who was by her side when she won the five-figure sum, is to thank for the success.
"It was him who suggested we went to bingo that evening, because I usually play on a Saturday afternoon," she said.
Her previous win was eight years ago and amounted to a respectable £8,000, the lucky bingoer revealed.
The jackpot is the second £50,000 national prize to head to the area recently, after a 28-year-old Nuneaton woman won the game at the Flutters Club in nearby Hinckley.
