Nairn high street's The Ambassador will host its final bingo game on Sunday June 17th, 18 years after the venue welcomed its first bingo-mad punters. The hall is owned by Remo Caira from Forres, who blames the smoking ban, which reduced player numbers, for the demise.
"When less people came along, prizes were smaller and this in turn meant that less people came along. It was an ongoing spiral," Mr Caira said, according to the Banffshire Journal.
"However, you simply can't keep pouring money into a black hole."
With the smoking ban due to be implemented across England from July 1st, some feel UK bingo halls south of the border could go the same way.
Many may turn to online bingo, where they know they can relax and play the game any way they want!
