NORTHERN LASS WINS BIG BINGO PRIZE
12/06/2007Felling resident Catherine Wear collected the five-figure prize while playing at the Mecca Bingo Club in Gateshead earlier this month, and plans to use the money to go to university, reports the National Bingo website.
While at university, the 19-year-old wants to study French business management so that she can continue learning about a language that she loves.
Commenting on the big win, the teenager said: "My mum is over the moon for me but I still can't quite believe it.
"The win has come at a good time as my friends are going on holiday to Cyprus in two weeks time and when they booked I couldn't afford to go with them - now I can."
In addition to putting money towards her education, Catherine plans to treat herself to some clothes and spend some cash on her joyful mother.
Gateshead appears to be a happy hunting ground for bingo players, as just last week a 42-year-old man from the town also won £20,000 on the Afternoon Delight national bingo jackpot.
