DELAYED REACTION FOR BINGO WINNER
21/08/2007A 41-year-old bingo winner from Enfield didn't know how to react when told she had claimed the £50,000 national jackpot, it is revealed.
There was something of a delayed reaction as she gradually realised she was not dreaming.
"I was so shocked when I realised I had won," she told game operating body National Bingo.
"I sat there calmly to start with but when it hit me I jumped up and down with excitement."
The prize would have been doubled as the win came in the £100,000 national game, but a player in Glasgow also bingoed on 46 calls.
But as she only plays "once every so often", the winner still called the five-figure sum "fantastic".
She says she now plans to visit Jamaica - although this may have to wait until the island community recovers from the punishing it received this week from Hurricane Dean.
