Llinos Davies of Bridgend was convinced to go to the Castle Club in Tremains Road, Brackla, by a friend, reports National Bingo.
And she revealed to the game's operating body that her bingo-loving pal simply wanted to get out of the house while her husband watched the football.
But an agreement to split any winnings equally saw each leave the club £25,000 richer after Ms Davies scooped the £50,000 national jackpot.
Completing a full house in 36 calls - fewer than any other player nationwide - secured the victory, in addition to the £144 house prize.
"My friend had won £400 before at the club which she split with me - it's something we always do," Ms Davies told National Bingo.
"I'm glad she persuaded me to play that evening."
The operating body reveals that three more families were "over the moon" recently as a £100,000 jackpot winner shared the cash with her mother's and sister's households.
