SIX FIGURES FOR DEWSBURY WIN
08/10/2007

Playing bingo for more than 20 years has paid off for one winner, according to National Bingo.

The Dewsbury pensioner scooped some £100,000 in a recent national jackpot game.

And while her daughter was surprised at the amount she had won, for the recipient itself the amazement had quite the opposite effect.

"I was shocked when I realised I had won so I stayed reasonably calm," she explained to the game's operating body.

The win came as she completed a full house in 44 numbers - the fewest of any player nationwide.

And it follows some 20 years of playing at the Mecca Bingo club on Railway Street, Dewsbury.

The £100,000 has gone to a member of the club on one previous occasion, according to National Bingo figures.

In January 2006 a single player scooped the sum, while four other Dewsbury players have shared a further £100,000 in prizes since October 2005.
