While many people may have a lucky number, for most it is probably just superstition or a bit of fun.

But for two UK bingo fans recently, certain numbers have proved lucky, helping them to claim the national jackpot, reports the game's operating body.

The first came as a 54-year-old Newport player hit bingo on the traditionally unlucky number 13.

Calling on the 49th ball - the fewest drawn in any club nationwide - she scooped the £20,000 jackpot, reports National Bingo.

And the win comes "only a few years" after her husband claimed a £5,000 bingo jackpot - also on the number 13.

Meanwhile, a 70-year-old Brighton player found that 37 is more than just the year he was born.

He completed his full house in 37 calls - ending on ball 37 as well - to also secure a £20,000 prize recently.
