13/12/2007For one 76-year-old Mecca Bingo member, Christmas has come early, the company reveals.
The lucky punter scooped a £40,000 UK bingo jackpot on December 3rd - and plans to buy a new car to help him reach his favourite club.
"I will get another motor and then save the rest for the moment," he tells Mecca Bingo.
A new set of wheels could be just the thing as he lives in Eye, about 20 miles from the Norwich venue where he plays.
"I live about equal distance from that club and the one in Ipswich but I like the Norwich one better," he explains.
The £40,000 bingo jackpot was supplemented by a £54 house prize after his numbers came up in 42 calls, the fewest nationwide.
South Shields Mecca Bingo caller Blake Robson was recently awarded the accolade of UK bingo caller of the year at a gala ceremony.
